The band, which play over 275 dates a year in over 40 states and provinces, has begun touring in support of "After The Flood."

Recorded at Mushroom Studios in Vancouver, BC, "After The Flood" features 15 new and original Clumsy Lovers songs. Help Save The Bottom Line

A note to friends of the Bottom Line from Allan Pepper and Stanley Snadowsky:

The Bottom Line has been presenting live music since February 12, 1974, and is owned and operated by Allan Pepper and Stanley Snadowsky, who have been friends since childhood. The Bottom Line is unique because it is a "mom & pop store" amidst a crowded field of conglomerates and corporations. Our main commodity in the club has always been and will always be the music.

Even before the terrorist attacks on the World Trader Center, the nation was already feeling the downturn in the economy. Our business, along with so many other small businesses, has not been able to recover since the tragedy of September 11th. Attendance to shows has declined. In addition, our customers are feeling economic stress, our bills have been multiplying, and we have found ourselves substantially behind in our rent. Our landlord, New York University, has started eviction proceedings.

During our negotiations with New York University to resolve this situation, the Bottom Line has presented several different proposals to pay our past due rent, while at the same time keeping current with a new, higher rent proposed by NYU. Unfortunately, NYU has not been open to negotiating a long-term solution to our mutual problem. We want to pay off our debt to NYU, but to do so we need to remain in business. To stay in business, we need a promise from NYU that, if we pay off the rental arrears, they won't evict the Bottom Line.

Unless we can sway NYU to give us this basic assurance, we won't be able to take the steps necessary to save the Bottom Line.

Jewel Cancels Tour Due To Tragedy

Atlantic recording artist Jewel has cancelled her forthcoming scheduled tour of North America due to the sudden death of her bass player, Terome "T-Bone" Hannon. T-Bone suffered a stroke last week and passed away on Thursday, September 4th in his hometown of Detroit, Michigan. He was 39 years old and had been a member of Jewel's live band for the past three years.

The tour had been slated to begin on September 19th in North Charleston, South Carolina. While Jewel has cancelled her upcoming concerts with her band, plans are currently being made for her to perform selected solo acoustic shows.

The American Music Awards Presents The Coca-Cola New Music Award Finalists

Unsigned bands Elcodrive (Boston, MA), Mere (Hoboken, NJ) and Relax to Paris (Sherman Oaks, CA) were declared the finalists for the third annual "American Music Awards Presents The Coca-Cola New Music Award" Competition at the Knitting Factory Hollywood on Friday night. The chosen bands will now prepare to compete in New York City on October 23rd during CMJ Music Marathon where one will win the bragging rights of performing live on the 31st Annual American Music Awards on ABC- TV, November 16th.

Ten unsigned bands/artists from across the country took the stage at the semi-finalist event and performed two song sets that were judged by music industry influencers including Larry Klein, producer of The American Music Awards, Robert Haber, CMJ Network Founder and CEO and Eric Lawrence, host of radio program "Dragnet" on 89.9 KCRW-FM in Santa Monica, Calif.

"The event was amazing," said Robert Haber. "All 10 bands/artists were warmly received, and after such strong performances, it was difficult to choose only three to move on to the final round. Nonetheless, we're confident that one of the three finalists will blow us away on The American Music Awards."
