"Great music gets made when a band finds themselves in a corner and they have to come out swining or die," noted Producer Peter Furley. "I've been working in music for close to 20 years and this is some of the best music I've ever been a part of. Plus One represents a very bright spot in the future of music and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at what you hear from their new recordings.

Up and Coming Dates for the Abztrakt Independent Music Series

TourBaby will be co-hosting AIM Series in in Randolph, NJ

The "Abztrakt Independent Music Series" connects the "early-twenties music enthusiasts" with "live-music format venues", wrapped in a unique and effective grass-roots promotional strategy to deliver a compelling social experience dedicated to the best-of-the-best local talent northern NJ has to offer. The series was started in June 2003 and has since proven that the NJ market is ready to enjoy the sounds of their local musicians.

"Our September show did over 600 people in the door to see local bands perform. This has proven the idea that Jersey is keen to see their own musicians, so long as it's packaged right with a solid bill of music and other great party-favors," said John Grech, founder of Abztrakt Productions. "By putting the concept on the road and stopping at other venues, we have the opportunity to reach new markets, and other venues get to share in the success that started at Double D's."

With the momentum building, Abztrakt Productions is announcing three new dates in October:

October 3rd - The AIM Series will make its first stop away from it's home-base venue Double D's at The Black River Barn in Randolph. Alongside Abztrakt, CDBaby.com's TourBaby will be co-hosting the event, making it an official stop on the TourBaby tour.

October 17th - The AIM Series will be making its second road stop at Hopatcong's finest live music venue, Tonic Night Club.

October 31st - Halloween Night will be their biggest October production as the series returns home to Double D's Rock Club in Morristown.

The Why's And How's To Focus Your Music Career

How to succeed when the notion of "maximum exposure" has failed for many artists or when you can not even afford to spend time and money to have the required so called maximum exposure? ...one key answer: identify and focus on your best current and future fans...and listen to them to find out what you need to do for your promotion and marketing.

This lesson in targeted marketing was delivered by Jean-Marc Rejaud, a marketing and strategy expert with 15 years experience at Fortune 100 firms and Founder of Focus Marketing, at "Why's And How's To Focus Your Music Career" workshops hosted at the Independent Music Conference late last summer. The workshops explained where to find and how to use information on musicians and labels' existing or future fans to develop impactful marketing plans and actions that optimize CD/music sales or your gigs attendance

The workshop introduced attendees to the 80/20 Rule, which states that a limited number of consumers/prospects (20%) account for a disproportionate (80%) of a business' sales & profits, and how to integrate the concept in their marketing strategy plans. "When you consider the 80/20 Rule, information is the power but you need to know how to obtain and interpret that 'data' in the right way."

"My mission is not only to help people/artists/music professionals take ownership of their career," noted Jean Marc, "but to go up and above the words...to give them actual marketing tools proven in many other industries to work with dramatic effects...real dramatic effects!"

"Attendees gave us very positive feedback and I decided it was important to get Mr. Rejaud more involved with our efforts!" remarked Noel Ramos, Executive Director, Independent Music Conference. "His willingness to assist us and his sincere desire to continually improve the instruction he provides proved to me that he is a quality person, and his continued involvement will add much value to our music conference and related events."

Musicians attending the workshops were also quick to heap praise on the marketing strategy expert:

"I found Jean Marc's session at the Independent Music Conference to be extremely engaging and informative - an musical artist would be crazy not to consider the principles behind focus marketing." DAX - Independent artist

"Jean Marc's approach to gathering data and utilizing it for marketing an artist's career is eye opening for those who work in the independent music industry. By implementing tactics used by major marketing firms and focus groups, he explains where to find the all-important data and how to make it work for you." RAVI - Singer/Songwriter, Author, Lecturer

Online Fans Worldwide Mourn The Passing Of Johnny Cash

Last Friday, country music mourned the passing of perhaps its greatest legend, Johnny Cash. As news spread, fans rushed online to learn the circumstances of his passing, as well as to share memories, condolences and pay personal homage to the country music legend and his family.

Hosted by FatCow Web Hosting, www.JohnnyCash.com, the number one search return for "Johnny Cash" using Google search, was inundated by fans, generating over 1 million requests an hour. Thousands of new fans registered to use the bulletin boards and many online publications linked to and were referencing the site in news reports. To meet this increased demand, JohnnyCash.com was unavailable for a period Friday morning as FatCow migrated the site from a shared environment to a high-traffic dedicated server.

"FatCow's systems instantly noticed a surge in traffic the morning of Johnny's death," stated Peter Ziesmann, marketing and development director for FatCow. "We immediately moved JohnnyCash.com to a dedicated high-traffic server, as we engaged additional infrastructure to support the increased demands."
